Music for Lessons and Carols Music for Lessons and Carols 2020 is a joint venture between the Harvard Glee Club and the trebles of the All Saints' Choir of Men and Boys, you can replay via YouTube. The inspiration for this musical collaboration is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which takes place at Christmastide throughout the world. The Festival was first drawn up for use in the wooden shed that served as the cathedral in the Cornish town of Truro, and first sung on Christmas Eve in 1880. It took almost four decades for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to make its way to the choir of King's College at Cambridge University, which has provided the event with its global reach. For many, this sequence of hymns, carols, and readings – opening with "Once in royal David's city" – is a hallmark of the Christmas season. The Ashmont Choir and the Glee Club combine their voices, enriching and broadening the relationship between the two ensembles, by participating in virtual choir arrangements of nine carols for the season. Originally streamed December 20.A program book is available for download below the video link. Those wishing to read the lessons and sing the familiar carols will be able to do so by downloading the booklet and following along.
