"My name is Joseph and I have been an All Saints Choir member since the second grade (I am now in college). The choir impacted me greatly, giving me a sense of responsibility from a young age - and more confidence when the time came for apply for jobs. Choir not only gives you knowledge in music but in other subjects too, for example, we sing in Latin, Greek and German, we actually go through and translate the words so that we understand what we are singing. We learn to shape the music that we are singing into something greater. The choir is my life, it's my second home. I can't wait for vacations to go right back."

The All Saints' Choir is modeled on the English Cathedral choral tradition in which children sing the soprano voice in mass settings, anthems, motets, psalms, and hymns. The Choir sings at the Sunday 10:00 am Solemn High Mass during the school year, as well as at special services and events such as Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and community events.

The children are constantly immersed in some of the finest music ever written ranging from the works of Renaissance composers such as Byrd and Palestrina, through the great continental composers such as Mozart and Brahms, to the modern English and American cathedral repertoire. The Choir sings commissioned new music by living composers as well.

The All Saints’ Choir is featured in many other events, both for the Parish community, and for greater Boston. These include Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Candlemas, the Feast of All Saints, The Bach Project, and special events. This is a highly visible and well-respected musical ensemble.

Membership in the Choir is free of charge and open to any child who enjoys singing. The ideal age for a child to join the choir is between 2nd and 4th grade. An interest in music and receptivity to learning are the only requirements for admission. No prior musical experience or religious affiliation is required. The only cost is the family's commitment of time.

Join the Choir of All Saints

The choristers are residents of Dorchester, Mattapan and Quincy, neighboring Boston boroughs, as well as surrounding towns. They are joined each Sunday by professional and volunteer singers from around the region. Ethnic diversity is a celebrated hallmark of the choir. Most children come to the choir without any singing experience. An interest in music and receptivity to learning are the only requirements for admission. The choristers rehearse twice a week from September through early June, singing nearly all the choral services at The Parish of All Saints. Music education is the backbone of the Ashmont choir experience for children, and fluent musical literacy is a bragging right of all long-standing choristers.

In addition, the children learn the value of self-mastery, goal-setting, upholding standards of decorum, and service. And as professional musicians, they receive a monetary stipend.

During the summer, a week-long Choir Camp in the Adirondacks is also available to the choristers. The choir program is completely free of charge: the only cost is the family's commitment of time. All Saints is located in the south Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, just off Peabody Square, at 209 Ashmont St. and is a very short walk from the Ashmont T station on the Red Line. (Click icon for map.)

The five principal levels of our buildings are handicap accessible, served by a five-stop elevator. Handicap access into both buildings is by a walkway and ADA-compliant ramp from the parking lot to the Ashmont Street door of the church.  There are handicap accessible bathrooms on four levels of the church and parish house.

There is a private parking lot for 47 cars and on-street parking on both Ashmont Street and on the other streets surrounding the church.

Four of these spaces are reserved for Zipcars.
